What Drives Us

We identified a problem which lies in the healthcare system in Ghana that is rarely trained to use food as medicine. We give names to diseases and treat them with pharmaceuticals using standard treatment guidelines. Most health care providers often leave food out of the equation forgetting that the food we eat mediates with our hormones, speaks to our cells and makes us who we are hence the popular adage “We are what we eat’.

This lifelong passion started when my grandmother was put on ulcer drugs for several years only to find out she had no ulcer but these drugs had already caused her liver to be enlarged(hepatomegaly) which later led to a congestive heart failure. She died early 2022 from an end stage heart failure secondary to excessive drug intake.

About Food Heals Network

Food heals Network is a healthy eating brand geared towards creating awareness on the power of food in managing and preventing chronic diseases, it highlights the fact that food should not be left out of the disease treatment procedure and the need to maintain a healthy lifestyle for optimal growth and development.

Food Heals aims to contribute towards achieving Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 2 and 3 which is “ZERO HUNGER” and GOOD HEALTH AND WELLBEING. A world free of hunger and filled with good health would impact the economies, health, education and social development positively. It would also halt the vicious cycle of malnutrition and in turn increase productivity.

Mission

To reduce the prevalence of non-communicable diseases through healthy eating habit propagation

Vision

To create a food minded community in Ghana by 2040 where food will be considered as part of the disease treatment procedure rather than relying solely on Orthodox medications.

Sustainable Development Goal 2

Sustainable Development Goal 2

According to the UN, extreme hunger and malnutrition remains a barrier to sustainable development. About 2 billion people in the world do not have regular access to safe, nutritious and sufficient food. More than 690 million people were undernourished in 2019 mainly in Asia and Africa. Food heals network side with the UN in achieving this goal of Zero Hunger. A world with Zero hunger can positively impact our economies, health, education and social development. Achieving Zero hunger will also halt the vicious cycle of malnutrition which greatly affects productivity.
